Bruce Hotaling '62 was an all-around athlete who lettered in cross-country ('59-'62), basketball ('60-62) and track ('59-'62). Despite excellent cross country and basketball careers, Bruce is most remembered for his time with the track and field program. He earned a coveted “Red Hat” from the Headmaster by setting the pole vault record his junior year and subsequently eclipsing that record as a senior. His 1962 record height of 12’10.5” still stands as the best in CFS history. Bruce went on to coach pole vaulting at both the high school and college levels. At the time of his induction, Bruce continued to compete successfully in pole vault competitions at the Masters level.
