Jack Kistler served Church Farm School as Athletic Director, Principal, Admissions Director, teacher and coach between 1968 and 1994. A star athlete in his own right, Jack participated in football, basketball and track at Episcopal Academy. He also competed in football and track at Duke University. As an All-American fullback, he never lost a single yard while carrying the ball, and was drafted by the Detroit Lions upon graduation. He instead opted to serve in the Navy. During his 26 years overseeing the CFS Athletics Program, the school won a total of 79 championships: 25 in wrestling, 20 in track, and 34 in four other sports. Jack was succeeded by his son John as the school’s Athletic Director in 1986. Jack and his wife, Beckie, remained enthused CFS boosters and sideline cheerleaders long after his retirement.
