Keith Ferguson '83 was an exceptional soccer and basketball player at Church Farm School, but where he really excelled was track. During his three years at Church Farm School, he set the school records for the 100m (:11.3) and 200m (:22.7) dash. For this, he received Headmaster Dr. Charles Wesley Shreiner's prestigious red hat, an honor only bestowed on record-breaking athletes, and, according to his brother Laird Ferguson '85, he was the only student to receive that honor during the brothers' tenure at Church Farm School. He ran track at Allegheny College in Erie, PA, and then spent nearly 20 years with the NYPD. A decorated officer with the Emergency Services Unit, Keith died on the job on January 31, 2004.
